What is the HashTub?
The HashTub is a handcrafted cedar hot tub from Snorkel Hot Tubs kept warm by a Hashrate House immersion heating system. A bitcoin miner submerged in dielectric fluid heats the tub through a heat exchanger, so you stack sats while you soak. It won the Heatpunk Innovation Award at the 2026 Heatpunk Summit.
Where do I buy a HashTub?
HashTubs are configured and sold by Snorkel at hashtub.snorkel.com. The heat system is $3,895 (Pleb, 24 J/TH) or $4,395 (Pro, 17.5 J/TH); cedar tubs and options range from $12,265 to $22,940. Snorkel accepts bitcoin.
Can I use the immersion system without a hot tub?
Yes. For home heating, the cupronickel exchanger is swapped for a brazed plate heat exchanger with connections up to 1.25 inches and outlet temperatures up to 140°F, so the same system can heat domestic hot water, radiant floor loops, a furnace coil, or a buffer tank. It can also retrofit a standard acrylic hot tub using the cupronickel exchanger. Book a consultation and we'll help you plan the install.
Which heat exchanger comes with it?
The HashTub (and spa, pool, or acrylic hot tub retrofits) uses a cupronickel tube-and-shell heat exchanger. Home heating installs use a brazed plate heat exchanger. If you're integrating with a different system, tell us what it is and we'll include a matching exchanger.
Is the miner included?
Yes. The miner comes pre-installed and submerged in the tank, in either the Pleb (24 J/TH) or Pro (17.5 J/TH) configuration.
How does the miner work with the hot tub's heater?
A temperature controller decides when the tub's 5.5 kW electric heater helps. From the factory, both the ~4 kW miner and the heater run until the tub reaches 90°F; then the heater shuts off and the miner carries the tub to your Balboa setpoint (up to 104°F). Turn the controller dial fully down to heat with the miner alone.
How much dielectric fluid does it need?
About 13 gallons (50 L). It ships as three 5-gallon buckets with a transfer pump. Use only Hashrate House–supplied dielectric fluid.
What electrical service does it need?
The immersion heater itself needs a dedicated 30A, 240V hardwired circuit. A complete HashTub runs everything (tub pumps, control board, ionizer, spa control, and the immersion heater) on one dedicated 60A, 240V spa circuit with GFCI protection and a disconnect in sight of the equipment, per NEC Article 680. All supply wiring must be done by a licensed electrician; the pump and miner breakers inside the enclosure come pre-wired.
